2025/2026 MARITIME FORMS ONGOING

 

With dignity, you are here by informed that The Management of Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby inviting suitably qualified candidates for admission into the various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes of the Academy for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Online registration commences on Monday, 5TH May 2025, and closes on Saturday, 5th July 2025. The duration of the Academy’s Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes is two (2) years (four semesters).

We offer full time HND programmes on the followings:

• Marine Engineering
• Nautical Science
• Maritime Transport and Business Management

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1) MODES OF CORRESPONDENCE
qualified Candidates seeking to gain admission into the Academy must have a functional and accessible electronic mail (e-mail) address and mobile phone number for correspondence. These Candidates are not required to present themselves physically, except on invitation through the Website Publication and e-mail/text message.

2) O’LEVEL AND NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) REQUIREMENTS

A. Marine Engineering
i)     Applicants must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in Ordinary Level subjects which must include:
–   Mathematics,
–   English Language,
–   Physics,
–   Chemistry, and
–   Any other related science subject,
Obtained in NOTmore than two (2) sittings.

1. ii)    Applicants must possess National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.0 from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii)   Applicants with ND in Boat and Ship Building Technology obtained from Maritime Academy of Nigeria with a CGPA not less than 2.0 (Lower Credit) are eligible to apply.

1. iv)  Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year (12 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1)year (12 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.
2. v)   Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level must have completed a minimum of two (2)years (24 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two (2)years (24 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.                                                                                   B. Nautical Science Applicants must have Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in Ordinary Level subjects which must include:
   –   Mathematics,
   –   English Language,
   –   Physics,
   –   Geography, and
   –   Any other related science subject,
   Obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings                                                                                                                             all the prospective candidate must possess a National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.00 from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii) Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year (12 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of one (1) year (12 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

1. iv)  prospective students with PASS at the National Diploma level must have completed a minimum of two (2) years(24 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or must have acquired a minimum of two (2)years (24 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.                                                 Maritime C. Transport and Business Management
   i)    Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least FIVE (5) CREDIT passes in Ordinary Level subjects which must include:
   –   Mathematics,
   –   English Language,
   –   Economics, and
   –   Any two (2) of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting, Marketing or Business Management,
   Obtained in NOT more than two (2) sittings.

1. ii) Applicants must possess National Diploma Certificate in Maritime Transport and Business Studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.00 from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or other institutions accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and listed with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The applicant must also have a JAMB Registration Number.

iii) Applicants must have completed a minimum of one (1) year (12 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or acquired a minimum of one (1) year (12 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

1. iv)  Applicants with PASS at National Diploma level must have completed a minimum of two (2) years (24 months) post-ND Industrial Training (IT) with evidence or acquired a minimum of two (2) years (24 months) cognate work experience in a relevant organization.

2.0 ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT
Academic Transcripts of applicants from other accredited institutions must reach the Office of the Coordinator Academic Affairs on/or before the close of the application portal, via the email address admission@maritimeacademy.gov.ng.

3.0  PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
1) Physical Fitness. Due to the peculiar requirements of the institution and the maritime industry as well as the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) as amended, which mandates all Seafarers to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to be able to withstand the rigours/challenges of the cadetship training. Consequently, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.

2) Medical Form. Candidate must print out the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be duly completed and signed before uploading on the portal.

3) Medical Test. Candidates will be subjected to the following MEDICAL TESTS when invited for admission screening exercise at the Academy:

• PCV
• VDRL
• HBV
• HIV1/2
• FASTING BLOOD SUGAR (FBS)
• PT (Pregnancy Test for Females)
• URINALYSIS
• GENOTYPE
• BLOOD GROUP
• DRUG & ALCOHOL TEST.

Note: The medical tests must be conducted between 5th May 2025 and 5th July 2025, and the uploaded medical test results will be subject to further confirmation when invited for screening.

4.0 MODE OF APPLICATION OR APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The application form is available online at www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng Eligible candidates should take the following steps to start the registration process:
Click on Admission – HND/ND Registration Portal

• Create an Account
• Log in using your Account Credentials
• Generate RRR
• Select the Mode of Payment of your Choice
• Proceed to the bank of your choice to make payment Via Remita Payment Platform or pay online
• Return to the Academy Portal to complete your Registration.

5.0   COMMENCEMENT/CLOSING DATES
The Application Portal opens on Monday, 5th May 2025, and closes on Saturday, 5th July 2025. Thereafter, medical screening exercise holds for candidates who will sail through the preliminary screening of credentials at the Academy’s campus, at No. 4 College Road, Oron, Akwa Ibom State.

6.0  APPLICATION FEE
The application fee is N20, 000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) only. The payment platform is Remita (as described in 4.0 above).

8.0 ADVISORY

• All intending ex-Cadets who are financially indebted to the Academy are required to offset the debt before applying.
• Candidates with incomplete registration will be automatically disqualified.
• Only candidates who meet the minimum requirements as stated above will be invited for screening.
• The Academy has zero tolerance for drug abuse, bullying or any social violence. Please be guided.
